Who is this guy?

George Peters is a Minneapolis based digital artist. He combines his two loves: illustration and photography with his passions: people, animals, and exploring the world.

George worked many years as an advertising art director in Manhattan and Minneapolis. He learned the art of visual story telling from some amazing hall of fame characters before striking out on his own. Along the way he created two books of humorous essays and illustrations published by Penguin Books.

You may find Mr. Peters exploring remote slot canyons in southern Utah, photographing and playing with rescued sloths in Panama or hanging in a Milan cafe. His happiest place? Hunkered down in his studio creating illustrations from those wonderful experiences. He has illustrated thousands of images for iStockphoto, GettyImages and many corporations around the world including Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Canon U.S.A, Time Inc, CBS Studios Inc., BBC News, Oprah.com, 20th Century Fox Television, National Geographic Partners and Viacom Media Networks.

His illustration Orion Returns was used in the 2021 movie Don’t Look Up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. It fills the entire screen at the 02:44 mark. (It’s the first image in the Conceptual Work section.)

When asked what is most important about his work, George explained that his illustrations are based on his photographs. He never grabs visual reference from the internet. Every face in his portfolio has a signed model release and a story to go with it.

George is married (35 years!), has a grown son and two dogs who give him unconditional love (when not demanding to be let out, let in, and let back out again).
